"Understanding Our World" Activity Series

To Catch a Thief

Image result for investigation

Next up in our "Understanding Our World" Activity Series, is an activity called, To Catch a Thief. Here, your child will be an investigator in a mystery case. Our young scientists will solve the crime using a technique called, chromatography to analyze the evidence provided for them. Using this technique with filters, pens, and water, our scientists will use several pens that could have been used to write the note that was left at the crime scene. They will do this by uncovering the pigments used in these pens that combine and create the black inks. By comparing the results of their tests, with the note left behind, students will attempt to identify the Mystery Pen used to write the note. If your child has ever wanted to play detective, this is their chance!

The cost is $5, but includes everything your child needs to succeed. Plus your child will get to bring their craft home with them!
